Fund-raising at Bathampton Village Show
I was recently honoured to take part in my local village show, providing chair massages for the visitors in exchange for a donation to the local playground fund. For me personally it was an incredibly rewarding experience, and my customers all loved the personal attention and touch!
The Show's atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter and the excitement of the whole community coming together and it was heartening to see so many people take part, eager to enjoy a moment of relaxation amid the festivities. As a massage therapist, there’s nothing more fulfilling than contributing to the well-being of others, and this event provided the perfect opportunity to do just that, while of course also adding, modestly, to the playground fund.
Each chair massage session offered a chance to connect with individuals from the village and beyond. Many expressed how a few minutes of focused relaxation could alleviate their stress and tension. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many saying they felt refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to continue enjoying the show. Knowing that all proceeds would benefit local charities made the experience all the more special, reinforcing the sense of community spirit that accompanied the event.
This year I didn't enter any of the Show's competitive categories, but I did really enjoy seeing all the time, thought, and effort that people had put into their entries, especially the kids' vegetable sculptures. I reckon I can compete in a couple of categories myself so next year look out for my chilli and my cherry tomatoes!
As my first time joining in, I really appreciated being taken to the heart of the community and the special connections I made with everyone who sat in my chair. I had an absolute blast and I'm already planning for next year!
